The famous ‘married’ goat of Sudan is dead. Rose, the world-famous goat, was married since February 2006 to Charles Tombe of Juba, Southern Sudan. It is believed that she died after choking on a plastic bag that she swallowed while eating garbage on the streets of Juba.
Rose catapulted to fame when the BBC featured the story of a strange wedding in which the bride was a goat.
The strange wedding took place last February when a Sudanese man was forced to take a goat as his wife after he was found having sex with the goat. The goat’s owner, Mr Alifi, found Charles Tombe engaged in sexual activity with his goat and complained the matter to the council of elders.
The council of elders ordered Charles to pay 15,000 Sudanese dinars to Alifi as the dowry and forced him to marry the goat. They even named the goat Rose. After marriage, Rose gave birth to a male kid which is owned by Tombe.
Meanwhile, Charles Tombe has refused to comment on the demise of his goat wife.
