OK! so I loved the Tom Cruise hit War of the Worlds as much as the next alien-attack loving freak, but even I wasn’t a big fan of the giant human-annihilating mechanical bugs. But I guess, the folks over in Middlesbrough think a little differently than the rest of the world, which and this giant bug parade is a big, fat and freaky example of that! Apparently, the local Spanish street theater group, Sarruga Productions, thought the people of the town were starting to feel a little too invincible and almighty, for some odd reason and so they decided to show them their real place by having 10m-high butterflies and a huge praying mantis (replicas of course) prance through the town’s Center Square, to offer people an insight into what the insects must feel like. Dubbed the Ugly Bug Ball, the one hour show aimed at reducing the size of Middlesbrough by 1,000th and offering the hundred of families that packed in the square, some “real-life” perspective. Gee! I wonder how many kids were allowed to bring home, killer ants, scorpions and snakes as pets after the “family” show!
