If you are trying to calm down your mind’s eye by thinking this scarf to be made from some wool then you are absolutely wrong! This is a project by Laura Splan (a very interesting medical/body fine artist) and the scarf is filled with your own blood and the maker says:
‘Blood Scarf depicts a scarf knit out of clear vinyl tubing. An intravenous device emerging out of the user’s hand fills the scarf with blood. The implied narrative is a paradoxical one in which the device keeps the user warm with their blood while at the same time draining their blood drip by drip.’
Hence, the scarf is colored and is alive do to wearer’s own blood. I think wool and cashmere are a better option for me than my blood running around my neck.
