The Serbian town of Odzaci experienced April showers of a different kind early last week. Traffic croaked to a halt and people ran helter-skelter when thousands of frogs rained down from the skies. Many locals thought that the world was coming to an end.
I saw all these small frogs just start raining down. There were thousands of them
said Aleksandar Ciric, an Odzaci resident.
The frogs, which looked different from those usually seen in the area, then jumped around in search of water.
An excited resident Caja Jovanovic added:
This huge ‘cloud’ seemed to come out of nowhere and its shape and colour looked very strange. We were all wondering what it was when suddenly frogs started to fall from the sky. I thought maybe a plane carrying frogs had exploded in midair.
But the bizarre happening did not surprise the scientific community. Slavisa Ignjatovic, an expert on climatology, allayed the fears of the residents:
A whirlwind has sucked up the frogs from a lake, the sea or some other body of water somewhere else and carried them along to Odzaci where they have fallen to the ground. It is a recognised scientific phenomenon.

That’s amazing, sometime back in Kerala, it was raining fishes..If it had happened in a place like China where they eat frogs, people would have rejoiced!
Yeah. Chinese would have rejoiced. The frogs were lucky!
