Belgian students create fizz on the street with Mentos and Coke

Asmita PrasadSep 24 2008

Taking one of the world’s favorite school chemistry lab experiments to the streets, more than 1,500 students came together in Belgium to try and break the world record for the world’s largest Mentos-n-Coke 'fountain'. Dressed in identical hooded robes, the students simultaneously put Mentos mints into Coca Cola bottles to create an amazing bit of performance art that filled the square with a lot of cola jizz and a lot of fun! Delightful as the record attempt looked on camera, I think the performers should have issued a ‘Kids, don’t try this at home unless you want to get grounded for life’ advisory because just looking at the pictures I can imagine many a living room left soaked with mint-flavored coke after similar, albeit smaller scale record attempts!
